Obtained by the The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, the leak comes from 14 law firms and incorporation agents active in offshore jurisdictions such as the British Virgin Islands, Panama and the Seychelles.

These firms are the record-keepers that document the darkest corners of the corporate world.

Finance Uncovered has been proud to have taken part in this collaboration, helping the brilliant Africa Uncensored in Kenya and Premium Times in Nigeria produce stories about corporate secrecy, the secret fortunes of the rich and powerful, and the offshore facilitators who underpin it all.

Stories from Pandora Papers raise big questions about whether governments and international institutions are doing enough to tackle the worst behaviours made possible by offshore jurisdictions. Despite a steady stream of policy measures, organised crime is flourishing, inequality is deepening and international elites are operating with ever-growing impunity.
